After having his first sip of beer when he was 10 years old, Adolfo developed an addiction to alcohol over time. Throughout this period of his life, one person stuck by his side — his sister, Ana Javier, one of the founders of Time for Change support group. Ana said that she remembers bringing him into rehab, which changed both of their lives forever.
That day, Adolfo’s reality finally sank in — he was a drunk, he was’t allowed to see his family, he was unemployed, and he was homeless. He felt alone, useless, and, worst of all, unloved. So one day, he went to his sister and said it was time for him to sober up.
Ana, having wanted this for years, jumped at the opportunity to help her brother and brought him to a rehab called Christ Liberating Men. Adolfo says, “I owe it all to God who has never left my side and to my sister for her support. I know for a fact that I wouldn’t be here standing today, more than twelve years sober, if it hadn’t been for God’s patience and mercy with me.”
